Privacy Policy

Nominal · Last updated: 10 October 2026

Nominal is a readiness tool for aviators, available for iPhone and Android. It is operated by Lotus Logic Ltd (“we”, “us”), which is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy explains what we process, why, and what we deliberately do not do.

The short version

Information we process

Conversations. When you send a message in Talk, the text is sent over HTTPS to our server, which uses Google’s Gemini API to generate a reply. The conversation is stored on our server under a random session identifier, not linked to your name or device, so the assistant can follow it. It is deleted when you tap “Clear conversation” (iPhone) or “New session” (Android), and otherwise expires automatically 24 hours after your last message. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

Feedback. If you tap “Helpful”, “Not quite” or “Flag” on a reply, we save your rating, the message you sent (up to 2,000 characters) and the reply (up to 4,000 characters). We use this only to review and improve the quality and safety of Nominal’s answers. It is not linked to your identity or device, and we keep it until it is no longer needed for that purpose. If you don’t want an exchange saved, don’t rate it.

Check-ins (iPhone). Text you type into the Readiness check-in is analysed on your phone and is not sent to us or stored.

Health data. With your permission, the app reads sleep, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability (HRV), from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, to show your readiness against your own baseline. This is processed on your device and never uploaded in raw form. The app never writes to Apple Health. On iPhone, health data is not sent to us at all. On Android, a short text summary (for example “slept 6.2h, HRV below your norm”) is sent with a message only when you choose to attach it.

Calendar (Android only). If you allow it, the Android app reads only the start and end times of calendar entries to estimate duty load. Event titles, attendees and descriptions are never read. A short derived line (for example “2 duty items today, first report 06:15”) is sent with a message only while the duty option is switched on.

Technical data. Like any internet service, our server and hosting provider see your IP address when your device connects. We use it only to deliver the service and to rate-limit abuse. Our own server logs record the request type, status and timing, not your IP address or message content.

Waitlist. If you submit your email on our website, we store it only to contact you about access.

Why we process it

We process conversations, attached summaries and technical data to provide the service you ask for, and feedback for our legitimate interest in making Nominal’s answers safer and more accurate. Health information you choose to share is processed on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your device’s Health or permission settings.

Who we share with

We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use these service providers, which process data on our behalf:

Because these providers are in the United States, your data may be processed outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Security & your controls

Children

Nominal is intended for professional aviators and is not directed to anyone under 18.

Your rights & contact

Under UK data protection law (and similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Because we hold nothing tied to your identity, the most direct control is in the app itself. If you want a saved feedback exchange removed, contact us with the text and we will find and delete it. For any request or question, contact support@nominaldigital.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
